Sunday is the WWE’s Showcase of the immortals and it features a stacked lineup that is sure to bring the fans to their feet. The Wrestlemania Kickoff Show starts at 3pm MDT and will feature two matches starting with the “Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal”. With names like Braun Strowman, The Big Show, Dolph Ziggler and Mojo Rawly, its hard to pick against the bigger guys who are so much stronger, and have won the event since it’s inception four years ago. Braun Strowman should be the favorite in this match, and is my pick to win.
The Wrestlemania Kickoff Show continues with a match between Neville and Austin Aries for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship. The heel turn for Neville has been great for him as the “King of the Cruiserweights” was able to comeback to WWE and claim the championship in a few weeks. The size and strength advantage go to Neville, but seriously, do you think the WWE is going to bring in a name like Austin Aries and not let him win the championship? Aries is the winner today.
Then comes the real meat an potatoes of today’s showcase. Starting with the Smackdown! brand’s Women’s Championship match that features the Champion Alexa Bliss vs all available Smackdown! women on the roster. Naomi had won the Women’s Championship at WWE Elimination Chamber, but an injury forced her to relinquish the belt and Bliss became Smackdown!‘s first two time Women’s Champion. Naomi is at home and should be the favorite to win this match, but the return of Mickie James could be an issue for the The Glow. Naomi is my pick to win this match.
RAW TagTeam Championship Ladder Match- The Champions Luke Gallows and Carl Anderson (who has a hot asian wife), will take on Enzo and Cass, and Sheamus and Cesaro in a triple threat ladders match. This could be one of those matches to steal the show, and with the size, style and abilities that most, minus Enzo, have this match is one that I am personally looking forward to watching. I don’t care who wins, but my gut is telling me Gallows and Anderson retain.
Intercontinental Championship– Champion Dean Ambrose takes on Barron Corbin in what will be a physical match for the two. Corbin has been riding some real momentum as the two have been making their way to this match. Corbin’s push by the WWE has been embraced by the fans, and it seems like he should be the favorite to win the title today, but Dean Ambrose is known as one who will bury a guy. Ambrose will win this match.
United States Championship Match– The bromance between Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens flamed out at the Festival of Friendship when Owens turned on Jericho. The feud heated up when Jericho distracted Owens and KO lost his Universal Championship at WWE Fastlane. Owens has been dominate in the few encounters between the two as of late, with three altercations ending in Popup PowerBombs. Y2J has an uphill climb if he and the Friends of Jericho are going to be drinking in a win today. KO wins the US Championship.
RAW Women’s Championship Match– I cannot be the only one tired of Bailey. She’s sloppy, has her matches carried by everyone else and has probably the worst finisher in the business (minus The Big Show’s Slow KO Punch), but she has somehow endeared herself to the fans. Nia Jax is the women’s version of Braun Strowman, absolutely dominate and should be the favorite to win today. But, who knows, Charlotte Flair is already closing in on her father’s 16 World Championships so maybe she wins her 6th Women’s title? Nia Jax is my pick to win.
Nikki Bella & John Cena vs The Mis and Maryse- Some people will do anything to make an appearance at Wrestlemania… does anyone really care who wins?
Shane McMahon vs A.J. Styles-This should be the most exciting match of the night. The Phenomenal One vs the Crazy Millionaire, the only thing that could make this better is if it were a no DQ match inside a cage! Alas it is not and AJ Styles will win this match.
Triple H and Seth Rollins in a non sanctioned match– The buildup to this match seemed in jeopardy when Samoa Joe appeared on RAW and injured Rollins. The secondary buildup however has been perfect and made this one of the most anticipated matches of the entire event. Triple H’s insults to Rollins seem to have motivated the Architect and even with a slight injury, that could be a turning point. However, Triple H is known as one of the most infamous wrestlers to bury someone, expect the same for Rollins.
Undertaker vs Roman Reigns– Does Roman Reigns have any fans? If so they sure seem few and far between. Sure he’s not that great on a mic, and he’s kinda sloppy in the ring, but he’s not THAT bad! having said that, imagine how hated he would be if he beats the Undertaker at Wrestlemania!?!?! I hope to see this just because I want to hear how deafening stadiums will be with Boo’s, but there’s no way you pick against the Dead Man at the Showcase of Immortals.
Bray Wyatt vs Randy Orton for the WWE Championship– THIS IS THE MATCH! Randy Orton infiltrated the Wyatt Family and broke them apart, burned down Bray’s Shed… or whatever it was supposed to be, and set up the much anticipated match between two of the best performers in the WWE today. I personally don’t care who wins, but would love to see Bray retain the title.
Goldberg vs Lesnar for the WWE Universal Championship- Yeah.. this is happening, over under on this match lasting more than 2 minutes? Is anyone looking forward to this abomination of a match? Lesnar Wins, Goldberg retires and sets up his run at the WWE Hall of Fame class of 2018… Luckily the Orton/ Wyatt match is the main event.
