Craig Sager 1951-2016

Can we just say 2016 has been a terrible year?

Dec 15, Craig Sager of Turner Sports has passed away. There are few people who had the platform that Sager did, and even fewer who refused to conform to the social norm like he did. Known for his loud suits, legendary feuds with San Antonio Spurs Head Coach Greg Popovich, and most recently his infamous bout with cancer, Sager became more than just a man. He became a legend.

In a career spanning 40+ years, multiple Olympics, Henry Aaron’s 715th career home run, Jordan’s comeback and a multitude of NBA events, Sager had never covered an NBA Finals. In 2016 he got his wish, covering Game 6 of the Cavaliers vs Warriors NBA Finals.

However, Sager’s cancer returned and in late November he was admitted to a hospital.

The NBA lost one of it’s legendary sideline reporters, the sports world lost one of it’s most colorful personas, but the world lost a man who became an inspiration to millions world wide. Sager’s fight didn’t end in a loss, instead in a win that will live on forever through his words, much publicized battle with cancer and the lives he touched.

Rest in Peace, and forever #SagerStrong
